Black Forest Gateau

Ingredients

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups white sugar
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 3 cups heavy whipping cream
• 1/2 cup powdered sugar
• 2 cans tart cherries, drained (or 2 cups fresh)
• 1/4 cup Kirsch (cherry brandy)
• Dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

   Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Prep pans.

   Mix dry ingredients.

   Add wet ingredients and boiling water. Bake.

   Drain cherries. Mix syrup with Kirsch.

   Whip cream.

   Layer cake with syrup, cream, cherries.

   Frost and decorate. Chill 4 hours.
