Ingredients
Instructions
- 1
Melt the butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- 2
Add the bratwurst sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove sausages and set aside.
- 3
In the same pan, add the sliced onion and cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 5
Stir in the sauerkraut, beer, mustard, caraway seeds, and brown sugar. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- 6
Return the sausages to the pan, nestling them into the sauerkraut mixture.
- 7
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) (71°C).
- 8
Serve hot with crusty bread or potatoes.
