Ingredients

• 4 slices thick white bread
• 4 slices high-quality ham
• 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
• 2 tbsp butter
• 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
• 3/4 cup milk
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
• Pinch of ground nutmeg
